where have i been?

Tue Mar 28, 2006, 6:36 PM
ummm...

the short of it:

dentist was a prick. tried to force me to get a root canal (which was not agreed upon, nor wanted by me - the one paying for it.) so after having him 'patch' the tooth that broke, i got in to see a dentist that my aunt goes to and i finally got the tooth removed on friday, the 24th. am in a bit of pain now, but doing much better than i was. (cant wait for it to heal completely.) new dentist rocks my casbah - he took time to tell me everything he was doing and why he was doing it and numbed me up enough so i didnt feel anything - which was fabulous. the entire staff there is very kind and patient which is awesome too since i get all frazzled just making the appointment. am very happy i made the switch and have to find a way to repay my aunt for such a fabulous referral.

my computer died - a horrible death - the motherboard died while i was doing the dishes one night. turned around and the computer was off and would NOT reboot. joy oh joy. am waiting on replacement motherboard from the manufacturer.
(am now running on bare-bones system which sucks donkey nuts. i dont have any of my programs and had to try and remember all of the sites im a member at off the top of my head. grr.)

also had to give up my baby, bailey. felt like getting kicked in the chest by a pissed off monster... have been pretty emotional about it. call it pathetic if you want, i dont care. i love that kitten and wanted to see her grow up, but had to face the fact that i lack the financial stability to take care of an animal that needs so many trips to the vet. felt like losing a member of my family. and that hurt. a lot.

havent shot anything new in quite a while. i have a booking this weekend up north and im looking forward to getting my life back together and shooting again... am slightly anxious, but keeping my best face on.

am also missing amanda - she's been gone longer than expected because she missed her flight back home. hopefully she will come back soon so i have someone to dork around with during the day.

oh - and for all the gaming geeks out there - i finally got ut2003 and world of warcraft. so ill be ready to kick people's asses pretty soon... heh. (and for all the pervs - i beat the newest leisure suit larry game - beat it in 2 days. amusing, but not as pervy as id hoped.)

time to jet - many emails to respond to...

A really quite useful thing these days is a USB memory drive. I have one that I use as a card reader for my little digi cam, and just as a precaution, I have an extra memory card that has a copy of my little password program that stores all my passwords, my browser bookmarks and a little directory and html file that I can point the browser to on any computer and viola, there are all my links, sites, notes, and of course through the password program, all my passwords. Took me about a half an hour to write it up in notepad, I mean it does not have to be anything at all fancy and that little sD card can be write protected so it does not accidentally get erased. I think all told it cost me less than $30 for the reader and the extra card together.

It's great to hear from you again.
I know it will sound a cliche, but losing cherished things imposes a certain perspective on your world, and most of the times its for the better.

I certainly miss your posts :blowkiss:

I have had the problem with bookmarks as well in time spast when I have lost a system due to equipment failure. I started using [link] to save all my bookmarks after it happened last time and I have been wonderfully happy every since. Case in point my motherboard also died a couple of weeks ago and I too am currently waiting on a replacement from the manufacturer. I still have all my bookmarks online and can use them from ANY internet connection.

Cheers,
Rashadan

LOL funny... I recently completed LSL 7 (albeit I did look for a walkthrough... wasn't the same as the old ones :( )

Take your time getting back into things if you need to and I certainly don't think it's pathetic that you cared for your kitty... I live in a unit so can't have pets... but do remember my cat when I was living with my parents... nice to have around :)
It's not really the same but I'm currently dealing with not knowing if someone likes me or not (god I sound so juvenile ;) ) that plus I think a lack of sleep has me a bit emotional at the moment... I would (at least try) and write something more "insightful" and such but due to afforementioned situation I feel a bit drained of verbal panache... but I hope Amanda returns soon to keep you company and take your mind off things :)

sorry to hear about your comp and your kitty (but mostly your kitty)--i know if i had to give up my "son" i'd be totally heart broken...

but i guess it was for the best--big ups for doing the right thing as far as bailey was concerned, and not being selfish!
